What does a wealth manager do?

A wealth manager is an investment specialist who will invest your money with a long-term view to manage and grow your assets. Your wealth manager will also review your investments at regular points to make sure that your money is invested in the best way to achieve your long-term goals.

Financial markets change and what might have been a suitable investment for you once, may not always be so. As wealth managers, we offer regular rebalancing of your investments to take advantage of opportunities and make sure you’re not overexposed to risk.

When should I hire a wealth manager?

If you’ve built a substantial pot of money, want to invest a lump sum or need help investing something like a pension through retirement it can be a good idea to hire a wealth manager to make sure you invest your money wisely, without too much, or too little risk and don’t end up paying too much in fees.

If you have no experience of investing or haven’t invested a large sum of money before, a wealth manager can help make sure that your investment is diversified to minimise the risk that comes with any kind of investment.

Also, if you want to take advantage of tax-efficient investing and you want to mitigate inheritance tax (where possible), it is advisable to have a specialist on hand to help and offer expert advice.

Long Term Investment

It’s easy to be swayed by market volatility and media noise but we prefer to take a long-term view on investing. We focus on understanding your goals and choose quality assets that will deliver returns over time

Asset & Portfolio Management

We can access a wide range of investments across the whole of the market and offer regular rebalancing of your investments to maximise returns and minimise risk.

Tailored Approach

We believe that the client’s needs should be at the heart of every financial plan so our wealth management process starts with getting to know you and your goals, the rest is built around that.

Transparent Fees

Excessive fees can erode your investment over time so our fees are fixed, straightforward and clear. We prioritise quality investments that deliver results. We don’t promise to be the cheapest but we do promise to act with integrity and complete transparency.

Freedom to Act in your Best Interests

We are independently owned with the freedom to access the whole of the market. We’re not incentivised to sell anyone else’s pre-packaged investments and we don’t believe in square pegs for round holes, so we’ll always tailor a solution that fits you.

We Win when You Win

We prosper when you do. Our fees are charged as a percentage of the assets we manage for you so your best interests are in our best interest. We don’t cut corners for a quick win, our investments are structured to achieve the maximum return for you.

What is the difference between a financial advisor and a wealth manager?

A financial adviser helps you with the financial side of lifestyle planning, whereas a wealth manager looks after your literal wealth. A financial adviser might help you plan your finances to build your savings or pension pot, a wealth manager helps manage your investments to help you meet your financial goals.

Luckily, for our clients, 2020 Financial are both Independent Financial Advisers who can help you build your wealth and Wealth Managers who are qualified to offer long-term investment advice.

Building a nest egg is one thing, maintaining that nest egg and investing for income is something else altogether. We are uniquely placed to help clients at both ends of the spectrum.

When should I hire a wealth manager?

There’s no minimum amount of money you need for wealth management, but you need to factor in the cost of hiring a wealth manager and balance whether the benefits and gains make sense for you.

Typically, our wealth management clients will have anywhere between £300,000 and £2.5million.

Are financial advisors worth the cost?

Much has been written about the costs of financial advice without the context of the value that a Financial Advisor or Wealth Manager brings to the table.

Research published by Royal London shows that financial advisers can leave you significantly wealthier, even when taking into account fees.

A financial adviser can:

  • Help you make informed investment decisions
  • Keep you on-track for your long-term goals
  • Save you money by sourcing competitively priced investments
  • Make sure you don’t get stuck in poorly performing investments
  • Reduce your investment risk through a properly diversified portfolio
  • Advise when to adjust your portfolio, and when to sit tight
  • Provide a reasoned, informed and non-emotional response to market fluctuations

In short, a financial adviser can take the stress and worry out of investing and provide support to enable you to reach your long-term goals.

An alternative to Discretionary Management

Discretionary management can give you access to added investment expertise but it also adds an added layer of cost that can erode your investments over time.
